Synchronous delivery means a live, streaming delivery. The instructor is teaching in real-time and the class is scheduled, at a set time. This can be from a classroom with or without an audience, or it can be from an office or any location with a microphone and webcam! Two of these formats are kinda similar (without audience) because once an instructor has a real audience to look at and interact, it will be more like a norm classroom where you might be in the last row and you may or may not be catching up on your sleep! And, it is possible that if the instructor is teaching to real folks in the room, they might forget occasionally that they are broadcasting to others as well - easy to forget the camera (sorry).
The streamed class may or may not be recorded for later playback. However, do not assume that a pre-recorded lecture is planned or delivered the same way that a live lecture is; watching a taped live lecture is different from watching a pre-recorded taped lecture.
The live class hopefully gives you options to interrupt the instructor, ask questions, perhaps work with other students in live breakout sessions, and so forth. These are different experiences and ones that you do not get with pre-recorded lectures.
Do not watch lectures on your phone - use something reasonable
If there are handouts or slides; skim them before watching the class
Attend the live session as tempting as it is to watch the taped version later; during the live, you can ask questions and actually interact
If you are going to skip the live streaming, follow the tips on the video page for improved learning
Regardless of format or method of learning, write your notes when you think of them because you will forget them later
Look at the note taking suggestions, and use your time wisely; little value copying down what you can see later
For a critical class or where you are confused, access the taped version and play it again
Before the lecture tell others in your zone that you will be on the air and to give you some space and quiet
Make sure that you eat, drink and do whatever else needs to be done; before the lecture starts
